Now Available, MODE Racing LGT Intake Air Box!

MODE Racing would like to announce that an Intake Air Box for the COBB Tuning SF Intake and soon to be released MODE Racing Intake for the 2005-2009 Subaru Legacy GT, and 2008+ WRX/STi are now available.  They are currently available for purchase via our website, MODE Racing Webstore, or at one of our many dealers, including Rallysport Direct, for the low, low price of $125.

Constructed of 16 ga. aluminum, the MODE Racing Intake Air Box consists of a one-piece surround, directional lid, and stainless fasteners that help reduce a loss of power due to unwanted heat being absorbed by your intake. Unlike some cold air intakes, which place the filter in the front fender, the MODE Racing design helps supply cool air through factory ducting, while eliminating the risk of water ingestion.  This unit was designed specifically to work with the Cobb Tuning SF Intake and soon to be released MODE Racing Intake.  Data has shown intake temperature drops of over 20 degrees compared to just running the Cobb Tuning SF intake without the air box.  It comes with all the necessary hardware and fully illustrated instructions.  A must have for all Cobb Tuning SF Intake owners.  Currently available for purchase via our website or one of our dealers.

Ryan Gates Reviews the MODE Racing Evo X Short Shifter!

A while ago, we put our Mitsubishi Evolution X Double Adjustable Short Shifter in the hands of Ryan Gates and his monster Evo X.  He recently gave his impressions on the shifter and we were more than pleased with the results.

“This review has been a long time coming, but it was worth the wait. I received the MODE Racing double adjustable short shifter from Billy Brooks, Owner of MODE Racing, at MOD ’09 this summer. Since then, I’ve been meaning to get this on the car but just recently had it done…wish I had installed it sooner, it’s awesome!

Here’s some brief info on the short shifter:

Quote:
The Short Throw Shifter is constructed from zinc-plated steel and attractive, sleek gloss black anodized billet aluminum. One of the major features of the MODE Racing Double Adjustable Short Throw Shifter is the adjustability of the shift knob height and throw with very little effort.

By moving the upper shifter shaft, the shift knob height can be adjusted, while the throw can be independently adjusted by moving the bottom ball. This allows for a throw adjustment of up to 15% compared to stock! The shifter is compatible with the factory shift knob or can be mated to your own custom or aftermarket shift knob that fits with the factory shifter.

The MODE Racing Double Adjustable Short Throw Shifter for the Mitsubishi EVO X is an extremely unique and a required item for any driver looking to get full potential out of their vehicle from daily driven street vehicles to high performance track cars. Each MODE Racing Double Adjustable Short Throw Shifter has been developed, engineered, and tested in the USA and is even featured on many race cars out on the track today.

Anyways….onto my experience with it in the car. The first time I drove the car on track with the MODE Racing short shifter was at Road America, which was a perfect testbed. I was out there last month for an open track day just having fun and taking it easy on my favorite track.

It’s pretty sick that you can adjust the height AND the throw length of the MODE Racing short shifter independently! Gives you plenty of options. I have mine set at full height, and shortest throw. I like the shift knob as high up as possible so it’s really nice to have that adjustability. Shifts are crisp and quite a bit shorter than stock, but not to the point where things get clunky or too short to find a gear.

With the OEM shift throws in the Evo X being overly long, it’s nice to have something that shortens the shift and still keeps things smooth. I haven’t had too much time with the MODE Racing Double Adjustable Short shifter yet, but I’m looking forward to the rest of this year with it for sure!

Here is a video of the car at Road America, you can see how crispy the shifts are! Thanks MODE Racing!”

You can catch his in-car video below.

Here are links to his reviews on EvoX forums, and Evolutionm.net.  Thanks again for the help Ryan, and good luck on the remaining races of the year!
